AFTER 10TH

           Students who have cleared 10th are at a cross road in their career.  With the ever increasing fields of studies and multitudes of career options, students, parents and teachers are confused about the right career option.  It is true that each student is born with a distinct set of abilities and each of whom has the potential to excel in life.  However, the real challenge is to find the distinct set of abilities (or what we call aptitude) and suggest the right career plan to best suit a particular student. Career counseling have adopted a two stage approach, to provide students passing 10th standard career guidance in the most scientific way.  Know their Career Aptitude and set a GOAL to future.

HIGHER SECONDARY COURSES
       
         Consistent with the National Education Policy of 1986, Government decided to delink Pre-degree Courses from colleges in a phased manner and to introduce 10+2 system in the High Schools of Kerala. Accordingly, Kerala Higher Secondary Department was formed in 1990 and the course was introduced in 31 selected Government high schools in the State to reorganize secondary and collegiate education. The two-year course was named as Higher Secondary (Plus Two) Course.
The process of de-linking Pre-degree courses from colleges was completed by the academic year 2000-2001. A total of 1907 Higher Secondary Schools are functioning in the State; 760 in government sector, 686 in aided sector and 461 in unaided sector. The system is offering Science, Humanities and Commerce stream courses to 6.5 lakhs students  . There are more than 20,000 teachers in government and aided sectors.
Vision
The main objective of the department is to impart best quality higher education to the eligible students of the State who complete their SSLC/equivalent level education. In order to achieve this objective, the department conducts courses in Science, Humanities and Commerce streams in the Higher Secondary Schools and imparts timely training to teachers.

DIPLOMA ENGINEERING
          In India a Diploma in Engineering is a specific academic award usually awarded in technical/vocational courses e.g. Engineering, Pharmacy, Designing, etc. Studies of Diploma in Engineering is usually held in Polytechnic institutes recognized by respective State Boards of Technical Education/Examination  and/or State Departments/Directorates of Technical Educations and All India Council for Technical Education. Diploma engineering course is often regarded as the "back door to degree engineering". Many students do take up diploma engineering courses as it enables them to take a transfer and join 2nd year of Engineering Bachelor degree course. There are ample fresher jobs for engineering diploma holders in the Indian job scenario. Most of the technical institutions throughout the nation offer diploma engineering courses for the students.
